Essential Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with hosts and staff to set editorial priorities for shows.
- Provide consistent and thorough feedback to hosts and production staff on episodes and larger editorial arc of shows, in terms of sound and content.
- Work with managers to ensure proper resource allocation and staffing for shows.
- Support the producers in host and client management, leading shows, and keeping teams on track.
- Work with production staff and hosts to edit prep for interviews and give overarching thematic guidance, as needed.
- Listen to drafts for what is working in each episode and what needs to be added, restructured or reimagined, paying particular attention to journalistic standards and narrative momentum.
- Pitch ideas for episodes, segments, and help to strengthen others’ ideas.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience in journalism or documentary experience, audio preferred.
- A track record of excellence in audio storytelling.
- Comfort and proficiency in structuring and editing various styles of podcasts, from interview to narrative to fiction, for original and brand projects.
- Experience working across departments.
- Some experience and comfort in managing people and managing projects.
- Organized and entrepreneurial.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and to adhere to deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
