Examining Culture Through a Multi-Generational Lens
In 2023, the National Women’s Law Center came to WMN with the goal of creating a podcast that transcends generational divides, and discusses how gender, power, and the law impact pop culture. Thus, Hearsay was born, an interview podcast that draws connections between the cases the NWLC supports and the latest trends dominating our feeds.
Our Work
We work hand-in-hand with the National Women’s Law Center to produce a show that brings smart, nuanced, entertaining perspectives about that pop culture thing blowing up in your group chat and the bigger issues behind the catchy headlines.
Production
We worked closely with the NWLC team to develop their initial podcast concept. We manage all elements of production, including ideating on episode topics, managing guests, producing interviews, and sound designing episodes.
Marketing & Distribution
We created a comprehensive marketing plan to support the launch of Hearsay, pitching press, partnering with podcast platforms, and booking hosts on aligned podcasts. We also advise on paid media spend using proven data-driven strategies.
Creative Consulting
We advised the NWLC design team on creating supporting visuals that embody the essence of Hearsay, from key art to digital assets and more.
What happens when reality TV gets too real? Jessica, Lark, and Hilary discuss two instances of how sexual harassment and assault were handled on reality TV, first on Survivor, then on Below Deck: Down Under. Then we talk to our guest Hannah Finnie, an expert on the intersection of employment law and reality TV, about why reality TV stars need workers’ rights too, especially in a genre of entertainment that’s too often discounted as “trash.”
