Bringing the Olympics to Life Through Audio
Ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics, we teamed up with Nike to produce a four-episode podcast series, released on the Womanica podcast feed, that connected Nike’s communities with the spirit of the Olympics. Over the course of the series we interviewed Paris-bound Nike athletes, coaches, and former Olympians, humanizing them beyond what we see during the games or through social media. To accompany the series, we produced a live event at the Nike House of Innovation in NYC.
In recent years, Dawn Staley and A’ja Wilson have become household names. From their achievements on the court to their influential roles off it, we delve into how these women have shaped the landscape of women’s basketball and supported each other along the way. In this episode, we hear how they’ve overcome adversity and proven the naysayers wrong to leave their mark on the sport.
Our Work
We brought the emotions of the world’s largest athletic stage to Nike fans around the world.
Development
WMN pitched Nike on an ambitious, multi-faceted audio strategy tied to the 2024 Olympics. As part of this, we developed a four episode series highlighting Nike Olympic Athletes of past and present.
Production
We worked with the Nike team to interview six athletes, including sitting down with Dawn Staley and A’ja Wilson together in Paris. We scripted and sound designed episodes to evoke the feeling of sport, across track, basketball, and breaking.
Distribution & Sponsorship
To amplify the reach of the series, we distributed Nike On Air as a bonus episodes during Womanica’s July month that spotlighted womens athletes from history. We paired this with a month-long Nike takeover of Womanica, producing bespoke audio spots that promoted the series and drove brand affinity for Nike.
Activating Beyond Audio
In conjunction with our podcast series, WMN hosted an in-store conversation at Nike’s House of Innovation in New York City on the history of sporting fashion, exclusive to Nike employees.
Design
We created unique assets to use for the podcast series and within the live event, building on Nike’s iconic branding and Olympic brand guidelines.
